Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I switch to natural soaps?
Most soaps we buy in stores today are packed full of chemicals and additives which tend to have a negative impact on our health over time. Making the switch to natural soaps doesn't have to be expensive, and your skin will thank you. The natural ingredients in these soaps are great for people who have sensitive skin, like myself. Most soaps on the market are detergent based soaps that are loaded down with preservatives that tend to suck the moisture from our skin leaving us with red, itchy patches and leading to fine lines and wrinkles. By switching to natural soap you will be using a product that cleanses while also leaving your skin soothed and moisturized. Plus, natural soaps are much more environmentally friendly. So, you will be protecting the earth and your skin. Win, Win!
What is Goat Milk Soap?
The short answer, it is exactly what it sounds like. Soap made using the milk from goats. Our Twisted K soaps contain 10% goats milk which leaves our soaps feeling creamy and moisturizing on the skin. The practice of using goat milk and other fats for soaps and cosmetics has gone back thousands of years. The goats milk is mixed with a base called lye, which causes it to go through the saponification process. This is what turns it into soap.
What are the benefits of Goat Milk Soaps?
Cleans deeply, but gently
Keeps your skin healthy and moisturized
Removes dead skin cells and encourages the growth of new skin cells
Natural Goat’s milk is high in naturally occurring vitamins and minerals. The sweet cream content of the goat milk is one of several contributors to the moisturizing properties of the soap. Soaps made with raw goat milk contains Vitamin A, C, E, several B vitamins, amino acids and natural enzymes.Fat globules in natural goat milk are smaller and naturally homogenized, meaning they stay dispersed and do not easily separate out. This fat is critical to the emollient nature of the soap.
Natural Goat milk contains natural alpha hydroxy acids which help in the removal of dead skin cells. Over time, if dead skin cells are not removed, they will build up on the surface of the skin giving the appearance of weathering and aging. Pure goat milk is less allergenic than other soaps. People with skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, dryness and even acne have credited soap made from raw goat’s milk with reducing associated inflammation, skin flaking and itching.
